SATA - 1.5Gbps
Presently, the best bang for your buck in the 1.5Gbps front is going to be either the Maxtor 250GB DiamondMax Plus 9 [RTPE: 6Y250M0] on sale for about $95 or the 250GB Maxtor MaXLine Plus II [RTPE: 7Y250M0] going for $99, making both of which close to a decent $0.40 per GB.
The drive we like because of its excellent performance is the 400GB Western Digital with 16MB cache Caviar RE2 [RTPE: WD4000YR] which is going for about $220. The drive showing the largest decrease, down approximately $21, is the 120GB Samsung SpinPoint P [RTPE: SP1213C] going for just under $90.

I don't know when WD made this drive available, but its a SATA II drive with NCQ and a 16mb cache, with 106mb platters instead of the old 80s WD used in previous drives. Here's a newegg http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82...">link.
Has this drive just not had time to show up on your RTPE yet?
I already bought one, so maybe I'll tell you how it goes... ;-)

I think seagate drives are the bomb diggy. Ok I'll stop being silly now lol. I got a 400 gig one, 7200.8, for $91 cause I ordered a 250 gig 7200.8 sata for $91 shipped refurbished but a 400 is what they sent me, which is good cause thats what I really wanted lol. Oh well. It'll be awhile yet if ever those 400 gig drives drop to that price, let alone 500 gig drives :)oh btw my first post ever :-D
