Derek is putting his GeForce 7800 GTX (G70) article in the engine right now, it should be available shortly. One thing to keep in mind here is that this GPU is based on the same parent architecture as the PlayStation 3's RSX GPU (now it should make sense why waiting until after today to publish the Xbox/PS3 piece made sense). I say same parent architecture because there are some differences between the two GPUs, and some of those differences aren't as obvious. I've got a whole section on this discussion in tomorrow's article, but I just wanted to give you another angle to consider when thinking about the G70 as you read through our review.
It should also serve as a wake up call to those who see consoles being infinitely more powerful than PCs today. NVIDIA said that by the time the PS3 launched, we'd have faster GPUs on the PC...I'm not sure if they were considering G70 SLI when they made that statement :)
Take care.

#4even making minor tweaks to a design takes several months. Futuremore it takes at least 6-9 months to go from a tap out (finished design on paper) to full production. The RSX has to be taped out by Sept 2005 if they want to do a spring 2006 launch.
Aside from adding Flex I/O to communiate with the rest of the system, i am not sure how much extra features are going to be added on to the G70

man consoles get the fanboys all riled up.Anand - I don't think anyone thinks consoles will be infinetly powerful, but chances are they will provide performance comparable to what thier MSRP would by you in GPU alone.

One thing I noticed is that the EQ2 benchmarks included 1920x1200 resolution, but I didn't see benchmarks for that in other games that support it (HL2, for example). Since I plan for my next display to be a widescreen LCD, I know I would appreciate that resolution becoming one that gets benchmarked as well when it's an option.blckgrffn - Wednesday, June 22, 2005 - link
Just wanted to drop by and say that I wasn't very pleased with your 7800GTX article. I like the high res stuff, but sadly, your article didn't seem up to par with what other sites did. Guru3d did a great job expounding the new HDTV abilities of the card and driver release, and HardOCP did an excellent job of showing performance as well as AA differences.Nat

"Ujesh Desai also mentioned that while this very technology (GeForce 7800)is being developed for the PS3 as well, since there's plenty of time to improve the performance gains on what they've already accomplished, that the PS3's performance will surely outpace what was demonstrated at this event."-http://www.1up.com/do/newsStory?cId=3141621Does this mean that the final specs on the RSX may differ from what we know now?
